Wow! It’s been a while since writing my last blog – nearly two years ago. I suppose what I have leant is that when you stop to rest a while you don’t just get to your feet when you decide to move on, you start to get to your feet but that act of standing up and taking your first step is a very slow process and even when you are ready to step forward those first few steps can be faltering and you can stumble, but that’s OK. Even if after a few steps you have to rest again, that’s OK. You just have to keep trying.
Life’s journey is not a full speed ahead dash along the road, or at least it shouldn’t be. We must make time to rest and to look around us. Sometimes it will be an up hill slog, sometimes we can freewheel down the hill, there may be pot holes or rainbows or both, we just have to enjoy the view and take the chance to talk to those that we meet on the way.
I have a favourite cushion that I place my head on when I am practicing mindfulness, it says “Happiness is not a destination it is a journey” and I am glad to be back on the road again.
